The test took place in an above-ground simulator, using coal sourced from the Powder River Basin. Combustible synthesis gas was created within one minute of starting the device. Likewise, the syngas production tapered off to a non-combustible state within a minute of shutting down the device.Unlike traditional UCG methods, no air or oxygen "blast" was used. The TEXYN hardware device requires only water and power. This test paves the way for continuing the commercialization program to make clean hydrogen at a cost less than traditionally mined coal. TEXYN's process will capture ALL emissions, not just "90%", including CO2. 04/07/2008 TEXYN signs on as a client to the Houston Technology Center.
